Hook Norton

Hook Norton

Project

Origin Transport Consultants were commissioned by Hook Norton Low Carbon Ltd  to provide layout advice and prepare a Transport Statement in support of a planning application for a community led development of affordable homes in Hook Norton.  The proposed development of 12 dwellings on land originally owned by Cherwell District Council is designed around a shared community building to encourage social contact.

A site visit was conducted, and initial advice was provided on a number of potential layouts to ensure space for vehicle parking was adequate and a large refuse vehicle could enter, turn and exit the site in forward gear.

As the site is situated 400m from the centre of the village walking was considered the main sustainable mode to and from the site. To encourage walking, the development was designed with pedestrian permeability at its core. The pedestrian routes through the site would also improve pedestrian connections from the residential development north of the site to the village centre and bus stops.

The Transport Statement successfully demonstrated that the proposed development would be sustainable and would not have any adverse effect on the local highway network.

Origin are proud to have been part of a team delivering a community led scheme of sustainable and affordable homes.
